Sharm Animal Treatment

Hi Sinai Weekly

This is Angela, I called you earlier regarding the Puppies. As I mentioned I have 7 looking for good homes and they are free of charge.  I have received many calls and emails but I keep getting asked what breed they are.

Everything Is A Choice

I received this in an email. When I read it, I found myself in tears. Till today I am not sure why - but that is not what is important. What blew me away was the power of the realization. It might sound very sappy, but really - give it a deep thought, if you choose. It changed a lot of things in my mind.  This is all I have to say this issue.

Planning, planning, planning

This issue is one that comes with that dreadful word called planning. You find yourself at this time of year planning holidays, or schools for next year, or work handovers while you are away, or simply planning your life.  Too much planning in my opinion!

Peace Park Botanical Gardens

Hello,
Please do you or any of your readers have any information about the 'Peace Park' Botanical Gardens on Peace Road ? Is it open to the public, if so what times. I have asked many people and no one seems to know anything about it. It looks such a lovely place and I would love to visit there as I'm sure many other visitors/locals would. There isnt any kind of signage outside to indicate whether it is open for visits.
Any information would be appreciated.

Where Are You Going?

Dear Editor,
Thumbs up to your front-page article last issue, the Walking In Your Own Shoes one. I loved ready it very much, and I loved the topic. So after you wrote that article what did you feel and which direction did you choose?

It's Time For Africa

Waka waka – this year’s World Cup is a very special one to me. I grew up in Kenya, which is in Africa, so I am thrilled that show is on in Africa. It’s not only about the football that I refer to as the show. It’s the whole thing. The mood, the spirit, the music, the nature, the songs, the dance, the travel – everything tiny winy little thing that encompasses how great Africa is. So what is waka waka? It’s the offical anthem for the world cup performed by Shakira. If read my favourite of the lyrics, you will get what I am talking about, when I say, Go Africa Go

I Want To Share My Story...

Dear Editor,
I wanted to share my story with every Sharmer. I saw an ad on the back of your last issue for a new digital print shop called Easy Print. So I decided to go and try it. I wanted to share my story because, the service and quality level that I got was by far the best I have ever seen in Egypt, maybe even better than my home town in Prague. I printed some of my photos on canvas, and had them mounted on wood. Everything was perfect, and I am very happy with the result. So if anyone out there is looking for digital print, I would highly recommend Easy Print.
Happy printer.

Realizations

From The Editor
Realizations – this issue is one that is created after very heavy realizations. Some of them were great for me, some of them were truly tragic – but in all cases, I wanted to say that realizations are truly the step to moving forward. If you can not realize things and be true to yourself, you will find yourself always falling back, falling back into the same place, the same routine, the same problems, and the same solutions that you often find do not work.

Education in Sharm

Dear Editor,

We are re-locating to Sharm in June from the UK. I have a daughter is 6 years old, and here back home, she is in school. I have done some research via the web, trying to find out what the best school in Sharm is. Would it be possible for you to provide me with some guidance?

Thank you in advance,

New in Sharm

Hello Sinai Weekly,

I moved to Sharm 8 months ago, and so far have tried 6 different jobs. None of them have made me feel good about myself, and in each job I have been having a hard time getting along with my colleagues. They are different nationalities, and ages the people that I worked with. I am started to think that perhaps there is a fault in me, because I am not familiar with many of the races that I worked with. Do you have any advise?

Thanks to you,

Katrin

Let’s Think

The idea of putting questions to you that will make you think, itself made me think for a while about what do I think can make someone think, and is what I think, right? I thought about what makes me think, then thought about what can make you think, and then I started thinking about the process of thinking. This was quite a tongue twister; and even tongue twisters make you think, don't they? They make you think of how to go about saying them! Before this thought on 'thinking' becomes long, I am thinking of putting forth my first question that will make you think. The question is, Can you stop thinking? Think of this!

Hello Sinai Weekly

Hello Sinai Weekly
I spent a day on a boat the other day, and felt very free when I was in the water, and a thought crossed my mind. Do you think that people are happy and free when in the water because that is where we are for the first 9 nine months of our life, or is it not related to that at all? Just a thought…

Here We Go Again....

During these two weeks, in accordance with Chinese astrology, it’s the end of the year of the rat, and the start of the year of the tiger. Within these two weeks, comes great changes, positive and negative, so prepare yourself for it. I have been doing a lot of reading about the year of the tiger, as in this issue you will find an article about, and most importantly, I am trying to prepare myself for the year. All I can say, whether you believe in it or not, or whether you believe in Chinese or Hindu or universal astrology, the moral of the story is, wake your senses up, and prepare yourself for the year to come, and what lies ahead of you. That means, literally wake up your senses. Remember that you are a your karma. Give it a deep thought.

Much love,

Me.

Hello Editor,

I saw an ad in your last issue about something called the Om Sai School of Life in Sharm. I have never heard of this before. Can you tell me some more information about it, because if I understood correctly, then I think it is a great thing? I hope I am right.

Thank you.

Hi there Monica,

Sinai Weekly Issue 74

This issue is all about change. I usually find that people never get accustomed to change too easily, so I decided to research it. I contacted several life coaches, therapists, and random people, and asked them why they think that? I found that the most common answer was the fear of the unknown. It struck me, that if most people were afraid of the unknown, how on earth can they embrace a new year, or even a new day. No one knows what tomorrow will bring, but we all wake up in the morning and manage to get through the day. Imagine if you woke up, and embraced the day feeling that you were ready and happy and willing to bring on what the new day has in store with you.

Hello Editor,
I looked in the mirror the other day and realized that the winter cold has taken over, and my belly is now protruding forward. Yuk – disgusting yuk. I guess it was all the food I ate over Christmas. Can you let me know where in Sharm I can go, if I want to work out, or loose weight, as I have heard a lot of different opinions about the places in Sharm. Thank you.

It’s a New Year, it’s a new line, it’s a new time, and with that all I can find myself feeling is very energized to approach this New Year, with full optimism and hope. 2009 was very hard, and from what I have been hearing, very hard on everyone. Everyone I speak to seems to be so drained, and not excited about the New Year. Come one people – use this as the refresh button to start all over. Fuel your mind with positive and happy thoughts, and you will find that is how you will start to see the world. So for everyone in Sharm, let’s turn our engines on, and all share that happy positive vibe together. Let’s all work hand in hand and do what’s best for Sharm as a whole.

To The Editor,

Hello Editor,

I few nights ago I was invited to a party in Sharm.I haven’t been out partying for a while, and I thought it would be a good idea to go mingle with the Sharmers, as I have been hibernating for a while. So I went, and there I saw someone I know, that has just had a baby. But oddly enough, this person wasn’t out partying with their partner, there they were with a different person, all over each other. It was disgusting. I have heard that this is very common in Sharm. Do you think you could write an article about this, because bottom line I think it is unfair.

An angry Sharmer.

Dear Readers,

Sharm is now in winter; however we are still lucky enough to have great weather during this period. The winter sun can be just as nice if not better as in summer.
There is also so much to do like walking, cycling, jogging and many other activities that usually it is too hot to do, so now is your chance.
Don’t be fooled by how the tourist dress though, as this to them is summer, dress warmly and look after yourselves, it is easy to catch a cold or any other ailment without noticing.
So, get out there Sharmers and make the most of it, have a great winter…

Sincerely,
The Editor

To The Editor

Dear Sinai Weekly,

I have just come back for climbing mount Moses for the first time. I had really been looking forward to the trip for ages. However, it was a disaster!!!
The journey in the car there was ok but the trouble started with climbing the mountain. My legs just wouldn’t carry me anymore and then to make things worse they put me on a camel. I really thought I was going to die as the path was so narrow.
It was extremely cold as well, not what I had expected and I was freezing, I think I may be going down with something. Now every part of my body still hurts and that was days ago!!! No one told me it was going to like this…

Dear Readers,

We received this note, a farewell note from a loving Sharmer who requested it be published.

Dear Sharm,

You have given me so much over the years that I cannot even begin the repay you but now it is time to leave your mothering shelter and security.

I am moving away and a part of me is so sad where a part of me can’t wait for the chance to break free. However, every road has an ending and I have reached the end of my road in Sharm.  A change may or may not be a good thing but I am ready for it…

To the Editor

Dear Editor,
Christmas is very soon so I was wondering where could I go for Christmas dinner this year in Sharm as it will be my first Christmas here.
Friends have suggested several places but none are too appealing, also is it better to have it at home, or go out somewhere? Can you suggest anywhere I can take my family to, as I have a five-year-old daughter?
I would really appreciate your help.
Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Best Regards,
 Anne Parker

Dear Anne,
Christmas in Sharm is pretty different to what you have been used to. But it can be just as enjoyable and fun.

As you probably know or have noticed that the big Feats is now upon us… however, what some of you may not know is that Thanksgiving is also at the same time, now isn’t that ironic?
So, people from different cultures will all be celebrating something in unison, which will bring Sharmers closer together.

Sinai Weekly Issue 70

I had to leave my flat recently so had to look for somewhere else to stay,
The search for an acceptable reasonable priced flat in Sharm is ridiculous!!!
I spent days just looking at flats on Hadabah and the surrounding areas and the state of them was just awful but in spite of that they were not even cheap!
Not to mention how I was treated and degraded by the watchmen for being a woman.

Another thing that extremely bothered me was the fact that I wasn’t allowed to have people over in some of the flats I looked at I mean what is the point of having a flat that I can’t share with friends from either gender?

Tis the season for the flu, nearly everyone I know has gone down with it in the past two weeks, from children and teenagers to adults and seniors.
Prevention is better than the cure as they say, so why not take the shots for flu a.s.a.p and help prevent it from spreading. These shots can also help prevent swine flu so it is definitely worth it.

Ethics of driving in Sharm

One early morning last week as I was driving home after dropping my daughter off at school, I was suddenly held back by the lack of driving ethics…
I was appalled when I was faced with two taxi drivers coming towards me aimlessly driving side my side without a care in the word chatting to each other on that narrowest part of the road.

Dear Readers,

Rumour has it that schools are now off until December or even January. We have tried to contact the Ministry of Education to verify if this rumour is true or false, however, we were unable to get a definite answer. So, with this in mind, we got in touch with some parents in Sharm and here is what we found: many distraught parents are extremely worried about their children’s education in the meantime.Several of them are even talking about leaving Sharm. Several other parents have not heard of about such a delay.

Dear Editor,

I have just started working in a new company and love it so far. All the people are really nice and friendly
I think that it is so important to feel welcomed and relaxed at work as if it is one big family; that is what team work is all about.
When the atmosphere and vibe is friendly, then the results are more productive and beneficial. At the end of the day, the company’s interest is our main concern and goal.
I just wanted to share how at home and comfortable I feel here, as it is all so new to me.
Thank you.

Best regards,

After Ramadan, most of us have put on those dreaded extra pounds that we so hate, but now the feast is over it is time to get back into shape.
It is a lot easier than you think…and a lot more rewarding.

You can start by eating earlier so you have the proper amount of time to digest the food and cutting out (or minimizing) the sweets such as basbosa, konafa and balah el sham.

Another idea is to start exercising regularly, so hit the gym, work out, go jogging, start running, cycling or swimming , in Sharm the options are endless, there is no excuse. Look forward to welcoming the New Year by a new healthier, fitter you…

Sinai Weekly issue 66

Dear Editor,

Recently, I have taken to cycling to work as opposed to driving... I know it is hot now but the trick is to go early enough before the heat really kicks in. It is so much healthier, easier and cheaper than driving or taking a taxi. You not only get that much needed exercise, but have the chance to enjoy the amazing landscape in Sharm. Everyone is talking about going green well then don’t just say it, do it!

At first, I was a bit concerned about getting harassed, but it wasn’t as bad as I had expected. You can also make a game out of it by timing yourself; it makes you feel a lot better when you make the journey in 30 minutes, whereas, you used to make it in 50...

Sinai Weekly issue 65

Yes, the feast is now upon us with all the merriment and joy it brings with it…it is only just the start as this is the first of the two feasts. So this is a time to have fun and be merry, happy and cheerful. It is also a chance to spend quality time with close family and friends. Unfortunately, things tend to go a little crazy during this time (especially after having been denied from many things during the holy month of Ramadan) I know it’s a celebration and all, but at the same time safety should be a major concern. Especially in Sharm, where so much could happen, whether on the roads or at sea, as it is an extremely popular destination for many Muslims celebrating the Eid this time of year.
However, People can get over excited and it can be a dangerous time as many of the accidents and mishaps are the result of reckless driving, excessive drinking, outrageous partying, vicious fights and unforeseen events. Another common problem is the amount of cars that break down due to the speeding and travelling, not to mention carting all the heavy luggage and people about the place.

It turns out many of us are big fibbers maybe without even realizing it…
Recently I was reading an article about this topic that caught my eye, so really concentrating on the people around me, here are some of things I found that Sharmers tend to stretch the truth on:

•    About their age: everyone seems to be between the age of 16 to 35…Hmmm
•    About their weight: everyone seems to weigh next to nothing….Hmmmmmmm
•    About their finance: everyone seems to be either millionaires (who could buy the whole country) or near poverty (I can’t even feed myself)… then why are you both still in Sharm?

Dear Editor

Please allow me to comment on a letter in your 'to the editor' section of the last issue. I would appreciate if it can be printed so Mia can 'take action'.

In reply to your observations about areas of Hadaba being rubbish dumps and 'like a war zone' - of course other people have noticed, you are obviously not very in touch with others in the community.

Ramadan, the Holy Islamic month is now here, even if we may not really feel it in Sharm, it is in everyone. Ramadan is period of time where all Muslims all over the world fast for the duration of the month as this is the month that the Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed.
Straight after Ramadan is Eid ul-Fitr also known as the small feast. This feast marks the end of Ramadan and fasting, hence the name. Eid Ul-Fitr is a three day celebration, in which all Muslims go out and have a good time having fasted for a whole month.
Sharm is a popular destination for Egyptians during the feast. So if you are not too keen on the crowds rushing from Cairo, maybe now is a good time to take your holiday somewhere other than Sharm.

I have been living in Hadaba for almost 5 yrs now and it’s becoming a horrible place to live in...
I don’t know if people don’t realize where they're living but no one seem to make a comment about it...
Maybe it’s about time someone did and I hope you could help me take actions in this matter...
They've organized so many cleanup days around Sharm but I have the feeling that Hadaba has been left out!!
It’s worse than a WAR zone!! Have u seen the area around 24/7?? I mean come on we're not in Iraq!!

I have spent the last 2 weeks contemplating whether Sharm is the land of hope. What I mean by this is, I was questioning whether I moved here because I wanted to be in Sharm, or if at the time hope was represented to me in a place like Sharm. I have spoken to many different people about this, and gladly we all conclude that Sharm is the land of hope, and whether it is Sharm that makes the hope, or the hope that makes Sharm – in reality it really doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, we are all here for the same reason, which is to live and enjoy life. So to all your Sharmers out there that are feeling low and down, there is no need to be. Pursue your inner desire to live, really get to know yourself, and you will find that life always works it.

Hello Editor,

I am a professional photographer and I know that I have a skill that I can better utilize here in Sharm. I am new here, so I do not know many people, which is something that is drastically affecting my professional capabilities as a photographer. I have the photos that I know people would either want to buy, and I also have the great skill of capturing moments, so people can utilize my skills at any events of any sort. Do you have any ideas on how I can get about to make this dream of mine turn into a reality

Thanks,

Hello Readers,
I recently joined the Sharm Egyptian Junior Business People Association and in one of our meetings, the issue of fraud was raised. Other members of this Association work in the tourism industry (directly) and had received reports on tourists being ripped off, by buying items under the impression that they are original pieces, when in fact they are not. This included items such as carpets, tickets, excursions and handbags. To be honest when I first heard this I was a little surprised, I guess I found it difficult to believe that, this too! I asked loads of questions to better understand the situation. There are people in Sharm, foreigners and Egyptians, which commonly rip tourists off. Now. My concern is what can we all do to stop this, as this badly damages the reputation of the Sharm, which is something none of us will tolerate.

Sinai Weekly Issue 61

Dear Editor,
I am having serious AC problems at home. Every time I call the company to come and fix the AC, I end up with a machine that is more damaged before they came.  Also, I just ordered a new one from them, and they installed it a few weeks ago. 2 days ago is stopped working, and I tried to call the guy who I bought it from, but no reply. So I called a different company to come and fix it, and when they came they told me that it had a factory problem, and that it is ruined.  All I needed to do is go with the warranty card to the any shop that sells “Carrier” and it will be fixed. Here is the problem; the guy I bought the AC from never gave me a warranty card. I am sharing this story with you because I would like you to publish it, and warn all Sharmers to ONLY buy AC’s from the agency itself (which means in Sharm either BTECH on Hadaba or SHAMS, next to Delta). There is no point buying an AC from someone who is not an official agency, because you will get ripped off.
Thank you,
Angry Sharmer

Dear Readers,
It is now the summer season... and oh boy is it hot this year, so look out for the regular beach parties and events, where you can cool off and get over the intense heat.
The sun is definitely high and hot this time of year, so the beach is probably the best place to spend most of your days.
Also, even though tans do look really sexy, it is very easy to get sunburned so be sure to take extra care when outside and apply extra protection; you may look like a snowman but at least you are safe….
So, enjoy the sun and enjoy the summer Sharm-style in all its glory, get out there and have fun.
Sincerely,

Dear Editor,
I'm a really big fan of your publication as it helped me define what Sharm is, therefore making my transition into a Sharmer a little less complicated. Now that I am an experienced Sharmer, I thought I'd share it with any newcomer to Sharm.
1.) Don't cling to anyone group when you first move here.  Mix it up and get to know as many people as possible.
2.) Don't rent a long-term flat until you’re in your 3rd month or so, best to get to know your options very well first.
3.) Save money and get all your furniture/appliances (make sure the appliances have a local provider) from Cairo.
4.) Don't let friends/family visit for the first 3 months either, they should only see once you've transformed into a Sharmer.
5.) Visit a new place every weekend, be it Nuweiba or some random camp site, there's SO much to do here!
Anyways, keep up the good work and I hope I helped a few of your readers.
Best Regards,
Mike

Dear Readers,

The heat is really kicking in at this time of year. Recently as I was shopping in the supermarket, I heard several Sharmer’s mention how easy it is to get dehydrated in Sharm especially at this time of year with how hot it is. They went on to say how a friend of theirs was seriously ill and had to be taken to hospital and were kept overnight. Please read this very carefully as dehydration is very common here.

Dehydration is a serious problem here, so you must make sure you drink enough fluids throughout the day as it can sometimes be critical. Symptoms appear when the body has lost about 2% of its total fluid and include:

Dear Editor,
Having recently read you magazine, one article in particular grabbed my attention; it was your front cover article; the Sharm search article.
I just wanted to say what a good idea it is…
Sharm needs something more than just a plain directory that could be a bit confusing and not very informative even for Sharmers who have lived here for a while, we don’t always know where everything is with all the new places that are popping up all the time.
Also, it is extremely easy and straight forward to use even for the less intelligent people, it is laid out clearly, has all the essential info and is very precise.
So, congratulations…

Dear Readers,

There are certain situations that we are all prone to fall victim to; here is such a case I wanted to share with you about a friend of mine, so that you can all take care and try to avoid similar situations. Well, here goes; basically it all started when she had a really important meeting one evening at one of the hotels, so had one of her colleagues fix  for the new company driver to come and pick her up at the suitable time. However, having not actually seen the driver before she was a little confused staring around her at all the alike taxi’s parked as all she knew was that his name was Mohamed, she suddenly noticed one looking at her expectantly, so goes up to him and asks if he is Mohamed, the driver waiting for her, to which he replies yes and tells her to get in.

Dear Readers,
We recently received an e-mail from a pretty stressed Sharmer questioning the necessity of the new lampposts in Sea Street, and the added nuisance of all the dust and dirt and holes, and explained their distain at the mess of it all.
As well as the water and gas pipelines, they also stressed the point that the streets have only just been paved, so sees no point in digging them up again especially as the cost of all this is outrageous when there is so much starvation and poverty in the country. It is nice for the place to look good but at whose cost?
Well, as you say; that is life here, and part and package of living in Sharm; that is the way they are and the way they probably will continue to be.  So, maybe you have noticed these lampposts too? Well, please let us know what you think on this topic…Thank you

Dear Editor,
First of all, I would just like to say that I really enjoyed one of your latest issues (issue 55) especially your belonging article, and how true it really is; some of the things deeply touched me; it’s as if I have been there, done that!
What I like best about your paper is that you are always tied to reality and pick topics that are Sharm related on a personal level and how you are supportive of the community.
Picking up and reading the Sinai Weekly is my weekly treat on my day off; just to sit back and relax with it as I’m sure many of you do too!
Also, I have heard many people over the past period compliment the Sinai Weekly on your choice of suitable matters; you are doing a great job!

Dear Readers,
The success of any business depends on the market they are targeting, and as a modern paper our market is of course our readers whose satisfaction is the main concern.
Being an active paper, the best way of knowing the outcome and effect the paper has on people is through the feedback from our readers which is exactly what Vivian here has done, whether positive or negative it is always a help and this is the kind of feedback we are looking for as we are here for you and your opinion is extremely relevant and important to us and the success of the paper.
Sharm is a multicultural place so of course people will have different ideas and thoughts as we don’t all think alike which makes us individuals that form a community and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
This is the kind of response we expect as an interactive paper that is all about sharing your comments and thoughts with us which greatly assists us in knowing whether what we offer the community is what they want or not.
So, thank you Vivian, and Sharmers, we want to know what YOU all think…
Sincerely,

Dear Sinai Weekly,
Don't jump to conclusions - regarding "Belonging in Sharm"- Last week’s article. Children are happy any and everywhere they are loved.  My own children grew up in the chaos of New York City, Broadway, and many ethnic neighborhoods hanging out, enjoying international food, music and celebration of other people's heritage.  My grand children grew up outside of Disney- Orlando, enjoying SeaWorld, beautiful climate, those lovely white sand beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. Now my great grandchildren are growing up outside of Myrtle Beach and enjoying sandcastles on the Seaside, the Amusement Parks, the Carolina culture and low country Flora.  Children are always happy wherever they are loved and cherished and feel SAFE.

Dear Readers,
In need of advice; a couple of weeks ago, someone wrote to us asking our advice, but not being a mother myself, we thought it would be best to involve our readers and present you with the problem.  Well, this person is a proud mother of a lovely two year old boy and is in kind of a dilemma; her permanent nanny recently decided to have a career change and suddenly took up and left, thus leaving her nanny-less for the time being. So, this woman is trying desperately to juggle between work and her son which is not always easy, and as her job demands unstable hours, therefore, she cannot put him in a nursery. After looking for quiet sometime without much success, as either the nannies take things, only want accommodation or just plain leave without warning, in despair, she wrote to us.  Why is it so much trouble to find an honest, loyal nanny in Sharm? What do all you other working mothers do?  If you have any ideas, please let us know…

Hi, I would appreciate answers to a few questions that have been on my mind; undoubtedly a few other Sharmers, as to why you cannot supply us with real news. We don't need to read about whether it is a compliment to be called certain names by the Egyptians, after all we know it's not, is not something we should celebrate. Please don't patronise us, start to give us credit for some intelligence, we would like to know what's really happening here, for example the perpetual road works to lay gas pipes, a better sewage system. Has anyone thought to find out how much longer our lives are going to be disrupted by this work, what difference it will make to us, is anyone actually going to have the gas plumbed into their homes, is there any truth in the rumour that the filling of gas bottles will finish within the next year??????????? How about the rumours that are flying around concerning the review; possible change to the visa laws in Egypt????????? These are the real stories (current affairs we call them).
I'm living in the hope of reading about the issues that really affect the majority of people living in Sharm
Frustrated, Lesley

Dear Readers,
Happy Easter, Sham El Nessim and Sinai liberation Day! So many occasions and is such a short period of time. Enjoy this festive time with friends and family but don’t forget to enjoy Sharm as well, were it not for the peace signed in 1973 by Sadat, we would not be here.  Also, I couldn’t help but notice how much cleaner Sharm has been looking recently, maybe that is because a group of dedicated Sharmers initiated the first and second Clean Up, basically to clean up the streets of Sharm and make it a better place for us and our children and generations to come.
The second Clean Up that was held on March 28th was an even bigger success, and will not be stopping there, as the next destination will be Hay El Nour on the May 2nd.

Dear Editor,
Being that the ‘Sinai Weekly’ is the most read paper around; I wanted to share this story with Sharmers, so this seemed to me the best way to do so. Well, here goes: A while ago, I was sitting in my garden when I heard a rustling near the bushes, upon further inspection, I found it was an injured pigeon, gently coaxing it out; I managed to find out what was wrong with it. The poor little thing had hurt its wing. However, after a lot of care and patience, I was able to nurture it back to its full health over a period of several weeks. So, knowing what I had to do, I set it free, of course I was sad to see it go as I had grown quite attached to it… but to my greatest jot , I found that my efforts had not gone unappreciated, as at least once a month, my little friend pays me a visit…
I know might seem like something out of a child’s story book, but believe me its true!
Best Regards,
Harry

Dear Readers,
Ahh Easter! With all the things it resembles such as happiness and joy…
However, I have recently noticed that some people have a tendency to complain about simply everything.
What I find ironic is that a most common complaint here is loneliness; well if everyone is feeling lonely or are looking for friends, there must someone in this lonely community that you will click with; someone that will fill that missing gap in your life, so if all those lonely people got together voila; no more lonely Sharmers.
So, instead of complaining, do something about it,  get out there, and look for a solution You are not the only one, there are others suffering from the same thing as you, make a new start and a new you; complain-free…
Well, happy Easter Sharmers and a very merry April’s Fools day (don’t forget to let us know some of the things you came up with)
Sincerely,
The Editor

Dear Editor,
I have been a Sharm resident for the past five years and simply love it here… When I moved here I brought with me my two Labradors; Antar & Daisy. Anyway, recently, Daisy has had puppies - 11 to be precise. As it was her first litter, she went through a very painful delivery.
The puppies were all born on New Year’s Eve, so are only a few months old now and I have started finding new homes for them which is all very good.
Unfortunately, I am feeling very sad and depressed at the moment to lose them; I feel as if my children have all grown up and are leaving me.
After several months of caring for them and loving them I am heartbroken to see them leave as to me, they are part of the family but I couldn’t possibly keep them
But I have given several of them to friends who live locally, so I will still get to see them but when I do, I feel like a grandmother and I know they still remember me and appreciate all I have done for them.

Best Regards,
A Proud Owner

Dear Editor,
I have recently moved to Sharm and love the place and people…and I have only just started reading the ‘Sinai Weekly’.
However, things are a bit confusing, so I do have a couple of enquiries:
At the moment, I am looking for a job so, whilst flicking through several magazines and papers for offers, I noticed that all have the option of displaying your ad for free, but when searching for a link to post it, I couldn’t find one. This made me wonder where these other classifieds come from. The only thing I could think of was the internet, which isn’t fair or morally correct when there are others who go the long way round and not skimp and copy of the internet. Also, what is it with the ‘p’ and ‘b’? Browsing one of the websites, I was very surprised to see the words ‘Jop Offer’ or ‘loking for jop’ and other such examples... I don’t think it is very professional for a 5 star hotel to have ‘Jop offer’ written in front of it.
I would be extremely grateful if you could explain it to me.
Best Regards,
Amy Hill

Dear Readers,

Looking around at all the types of people in Sharm, I am surprised to see so many different ones, however, the one that stands out the most is the bossy have-to-have-their-way type, maybe it’s because they are the loudest that they are the most noticeable.
Anyway, I have recently come across someone like that, and the only way I have found to deal with them is to either put them in their place right from the start or just ignore them. Don’t fall victim to someone like that and don’t take notice of their stuffy attitude.
Attitude is the way people express themselves and you have to have the right attitude to fit in, wherever you are, otherwise you will be rejected and will finally find yourself alone and having the right attitude is extremely important if people are to learn to live together.
So, watch out and take care how you treat others, as no one appreciates a bossy show-off…

Sincerely,
The Editor

Dear Editor,
I am a regular fan of the ‘Sinai Weekly’ and like reading your articles that are always to the point and directly connected to Sharmers.
Having recently attended the 1st CLAEN SHARM initiative meeting, I was distinctly surprised that there were not as many people there as I had initially expected. But being at the meeting enlightened me on many topics and of really how endangered our fragile environment is.
We are extremely lucky to live in such an amazing environment, so we should do our best to protect and preserve its nature. Think of all the things Sharm has given us over the past years and let’s pay back even a small part of that by respecting it. However, some people just don’t seem to appreciate it at all!  Why is that people are so inconsiderate and thoughtless? Do they do it on purpose are they really tat blind to the effect they are causing?

Sincerely,

A Concerned Sharmer

Dear Readers
Women are double-lucky this month, as not only are they celebrating Mother’s Day, but International Women’s Day as well, and like Mothers Day, International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries across the globe. Some of you may not have even heard of it, but International Woman’s Day is looming on the 8th of March. This day represents the economic, political and social achievements of women worldwide and has been around for quite some time. Having originally started out as apolitical event quickly turned into a social occasion, as it is a chance to show all the women in your life how much you really care and express their love and appreciation for them. Its women’s chance now to get that much needed pampering that sometimes seems like a distant memory. Spoil yourself a bit or do something nice for a change; go to the beach, maybe followed by a nice dinner, or a quiet stroll in the moonlight under the stars, make it an occasion to remember.  So men, be sure to mark this day otherwise, you might be in big trouble… and women; Happy International Women’s Day!
Sincerely,
The Editor

Dear Readers,
Sharm is full of many different types of people but in general people can be divided into two main categories; Leaders and followers. Leaders are those born to lead being original in everything they do and always come up with the ideas, they have the strength and power to who guides or directs others and possess leadership qualities they thrive on it and usually succeed in everything they do. Whereas, followers are those who always depend on others; they are the people who copy or imitate something or someone else. They great soldiers at taking orders but will not be able to handle or deal with situations that involve making decisions. And the difference between them is that leaders will always be on top and will get somewhere in life, while followers will hover in the background, constantly needing the strength of others to survive and succeed
Now, you need to decide whether you are a leader or a follower and let’s face it; either you have it or you don’t …

Sincerely,
The editor

To The Editor

Dear Editor
I have been living in Sharm for the nearly five years now, and it has been interesting to see all the changes but the ideas are so limited and I have noticed that if someone has or does something everyone else will follow, like shops or bazaars, for instance if one place starts selling a certain merchandise, so will all the others, and everywhere you go you will see the same things. However, this also applies to other things like houses, cars and even magazines.
I have recently noticed that another magazine (no names mentioned) has many ‘Sinai weekly’ features and games in their last issue, isn’t that illegal or are they part of your company? A few of us are a bit confused…
I love the “Sinai Weekly” because it is more than that, there is actually substance to read and I feel and know that you are original in all your content and design.
Thank you for the pleasure you bring to us and keep up the good work…

Best Regards,
Sarah

Dear Reader,

Sinai Weekly Issue 49 Cool weather and cold winds can’t stop us wishing you all a very happy Valentine’s Day…
So, are you in right mood or not yet? You should be with all the decorations in the shops, streets and hotels. Anyway, Valentines isn’t about It is not about where you are, but rather who you are with, that makes the moment special.
Valentines should be about spreading the love and showing that you care for those lucky enough to have found it. It is a day dedicated to giving as much as receiving and should be done to the best advantage.
Even though it would be nice to just have a quiet day at home to spend some quality time with your loved ones, maybe you could suggest your favourite place to spend Valentine’s Day in Sharm, as I’m sure many of us are at a loss of where to go.
Well, wherever you go or whatever you do, have fun and make it a day to remember…

Sincerely,

The Editor

Museums You've Probably Never Been To

We all know that Egypt has a wealth of historical sites and a rich overlap of cultures spanning thousands of years. So, we’ve decided to spotlight a few places to whet your cultural appetite if you should ever find yourself with nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon.

Homeopathy In Sharm

When you visit the doctor, he will ask you what is wrong. "My foot hurts," you might say, and the doctor will lift the foot and look at it from all angles.
He has seen this before. Within 15 minutes, he will learn all of the details he needs to make a diagnosis. He will write on a pad, hand you a slip of paper, and you will hobble out the door. This is how medicine is done, right?
Why is it then, that for the same complaint, a homeopath will require that you sit in her office for at least an hour? Why will she ask you about your childhood, your dreams, your preferences for food, and so on?
What are these tiny white pills she has recommended you, and why do they have a name that sounds so strange?

Real Estate In Sharm

Over the past few years the resorts surrounding the Red Sea have witnessed a property boom which parallels those of Spain and Dubai in recent times. At the forefront of this increase in demand is the resort of Sharm El Sheikh, ideally situated on the southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula. Buoyed by a rapidly expanding tourist industry, Sharm El Sheikh is today one of the most popular destinations for people looking to purchase a property in Egypt.

Do You Believe In The Evil Eye?

Hello Muriel,

Do you believe in the evil eye?

 Thanks,
Mona

Dear Mona,
I don’t think it is about belief; it is more about respect and acceptance for other people’s beliefs. It is not about my opinion either as opinions become diluted with age.
The ‘Evil Eye’ is believed by many cultures to be able to cause bad luck or injury on the person to whom it is directed.
The concept and significance of it varies widely between cultures, but for me the psychodynamics are of ‘envy.’
It has been mentioned several times in the Bible and is also mentioned in the Koran.
